I'm looking for a head set with an external mike. I'm mainly planning on using it for when I talk with people on skype and voice chat. My computer has an internal mike, but what happens is the fan inside the laptop makes some noise while I am conversing. I don't think it bothers too many people, but I'd still like to try this way out. Please let me know what you would recommend, and if you have an old one in good condition I will consider buying it.
Thank you,
Ryan
Whats your budget? Headsets can range from $10 to $500, it comes down to what you want to spend and why. Well, you've pretty much said you want it to mainly for conversation on skype etc, so, might be an idea to look for headsets that come with mike
I have one called the Microsoft Life Chat LX 3000, or some name like that. It cost about 30 dollars.
If I could spend no more than $50 on a decent one with good sound quality, that would be nice but at most I'm willing to pay $75 or $80.
with $70 you should able to get some good decent headset with decent mike for that price. Microsoft Live series aint too bad, and its one of the cheaper but decent option around. You can also try brands like logitec, or, perhaps creative. But i'll probably go for Logitec or Microsoft rather than creative.
oh, another brand might be worth considering is pantronic. They do have decent quality sound for decent price. For what you need, you should able to get a fairly decent headset with mike for $30 to $50 or so.
to be honest. i got my head set at wal mart for just $17 and i have had it for a year. still works. Just have to take good care of them. quallity is good too. not sure what brand though. I can find out if you like.
would you prefer USB or analogue. If USB I'd Recommend something by logitech as previously stated. Were it me, I would deffinitly go USB as to insure good quality. I bought a USB headset from radio shack about 3 years ago pro logic, or some off brand like that for 10 bucks, and it works extremely well.
I'm thinking about getting one with a USB hook up. I've heard a lot of negative things about wireless head sets, that the quality is not good.
Agreed. I'd definitely go USB over wireless any day.
I just wonder why they wouldn't work better. For something that would be more convenient, it's a shame. You wouldn't have to worry about an annoying cord getting tangled up if you took it with you while traveling.
I've got a Logitech USB headset myself. I use it all the time for Skype and Team Talk and it works pretty well. It was originally for $50 I think, but I got a discount on it, so I got it for $35.
Some do work well, the wireless, but they'd be over your budget. The one that Sister has is really good. It can be had a Walmart for about 21 now. Copy and paste it in your search box on walmart.com and it will come up. Shipping runs about 97 cents.
Plantronics are a cut above Logetec, but I like them both.
USB is the best I agree as well. Connection is tight and making it work is simple, so.
I have the Microsoft Life Chat one, too. I really like it. I've had it for about 3 years now, and it still works great. It also has some really sweet bass, so it's really nice for listening to music. The only thing I really don't like about it is that it's not comfortable to wear for long periods of time, but I suppose that's true of any headset.
Thanks guys. It's good to have some options.
